Vibes trading card game (TCG) has unveiled a new set featuring the leading NFT projects Pudgy Penguins and Moonbirds. Developed by the experience design studio Orange Cap Games, the Birb & Pengu Set 3 is set to launch on June 18.
According to details provided by Vibes TCG, the upcoming set will feature popular characters from Pudgy Penguins and Moonbirds, blending physical collecting with online gameplay.
As a digital and physical trading card game featuring Pudgy Penguins, Vibes has launched two sets before Birb & Pengu. The sets, named Enter the Huddle and Legend of Lils, are Pudgy Penguins TCGs, featuring intellectual property from the popular NFT brand.
Being the third set, Birb & Pengu expands the game with 195 new cards, introducing new card types like “Fits” for upgrading character cards. This set introduces a new way for players to build their boards. Each card box contains one yellow and one green starter deck, along with a rules sheet. Made of cardstock, the team behind the game tagged this set as a perfect entry point into the world of Vibes; new players can learn to play, while returning players can continue from where they left off.
Birb & Pengu also introduces new card mechanics and characters, making the set the biggest shakeup to the pool yet. Creatures in the game will no longer be addressed as ‘Penguin,’ but as ‘Character’ across all three sets. This comes with the addition of Birbs, since they will follow the same rules as Penguins; all creatures will be addressed with a universal term.
Additionally, the new set introduces five new locations, namely Big Ben, Art Museum, Taj Mahal, The Peng, and Birb Bay, with each having a distinct effect on the state of the game. Legend of Lils first introduced locations as relics in the game, but Birb & Pengu have expanded this feature.
Although the set will be launched in a month’s time, it is available for pre-order on platforms like Big Bad Toy Store (booster packs and starter decks) and Star City Games (singles). Overall, the Vibes TCG challenges players to 52-card decks and compete to lure the central character, “Baron Fishpockets,” into their huddle.
While the Set 3 launch date approaches, Moonbird has launched an artificial intelligence (AI) generated Birb collectible featuring cards from the Birb Origins episodes.
