OSL Opens XRP Trading to Retail Investors
OSL Digital Securities has launched XRP trading for retail investors in Hong Kong, expanding access to the cryptocurrency through a locally licensed platform. The company said in its July 29 listing notice:
“We are thrilled to announce that OSL HK will be the first exchange in Hong Kong to support XRP (XRP) trading to retail investors.”
Trading opened July 29 through Flash Trade, OSL’s instant retail trading feature, and over-the-counter (OTC) services. Retail investors can trade XRP using the XRP/USD pair through Flash Trade or the XRP/USD and XRP/HKD pairs through OTC. XRP deposits and withdrawals are supported through the XRP Ledger, according to OSL.
Professional investors continue to have access to additional trading pairs, including XRP/USDT through Flash Trade and XRP/BTC through OTC services.
Regulated Access Expands in Hong Kong
The listing gives Hong Kong investors another way to access XRP through a regulated local platform rather than relying on offshore exchanges. OSL Digital Securities operates under a license issued by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).
Hong Kong’s licensing regime also requires platforms to meet standards covering client asset protection, custody, anti-money laundering controls, token admission, cybersecurity and market surveillance. Licensed operators must also conduct customer checks, manage conflicts of interest and maintain controls intended to reduce the risk of fraud, market manipulation and the misuse of client assets. Those crypto exchange safeguards are intended to strengthen investor protections as the city expands regulated access to digital assets.
XRP Builds on Hong Kong’s Digital Asset Growth
OSL’s launch also follows the gradual expansion of XRP within Hong Kong’s regulated market. Earlier, Hashkey’s professional-investor XRP listing extended access to institutional and professional investors, while OSL’s latest move broadens availability to retail customers for the first time.
The retail rollout comes as OSL continues expanding its broader digital asset business. In January, OSL’s $200 million expansion raise provided funding for acquisitions, payment infrastructure, stablecoin initiatives and international growth. The financing gives the company additional resources to expand its services as Hong Kong develops its regulated digital asset market.
