As part of Synthetix’s continued transition away from legacy systems, all Synths on Optimism will be deprecated. This blog outlines the full timeline, what actions Synth holders should take, and how redemptions will work after trading is disabled.
Synth holders are strongly encouraged to swap their Synths before the end of January to avoid future discounts and manual redemption processes.

Now, until January 31, 2026Synth swaps on Optimism remain enabled. Holders of sETH, sBTC, and other spot Synths are encouraged to swap into sUSD before the deadline to avoid manual redemption and future discounts. Synths can be swapped at https://legacy.kwenta.io or https://1inch.com/
February 1, 2026 until April 30, 2026Contracts will be deprecated and synth redemption price will be frozen. Synths may be redeemed from the Synthetix Treasury at the oracle price from January 31st, 23:59:59 UTC by opening a chat at https://support.synthetix.io/. After April 30, 2026 until December 31, 2026A discount applies to redemptions after April 30th and increases linearly at 12.5% of the frozen oracle price per month until reaching 100%. Once the discount rate reaches its maximum, synth redemptions will end.
Please note: only the holder of synths on the deprecation date, February 1 2026, are eligible for treasury redemption. Please do not transfer or buy synths on the open market for redemption after this date.
How Does Deprecation Impact Synthetix?
While we aim to provide ample warning to users, we expect minimal impact from synth deprecation on Optimism. Synths are currently not in use by any integration or core Synthetix product, but we still encourage users to check their wallets for synths and close out any positions.
All currently supported Synthetix products including trading and 420 staking are not impacted.
sUSD and SNX on Optimism
Synth deprecation does not impact sUSD or SNX on Optimism at this time. Both tokens will remain live on the network, but have limited utility as we transition our full attention to Ethereum Mainnet, and will be deprecated in the future. You can prepare for this coming change by bridging your tokens to mainnet.
If you are participating in the debt jubilee on Optimism, your positions are not impacted, and your SNX will remain transferrable on Optimism after your debt jubilee is finished.
