It’s election season at Synthetix! Following the passage of the SR-2 governance proposal, four of the seven governance seats at Synthetix are up for election, and you can nominate yourself for a seat! Here’s how you can participate in elections as a candidate and a voter.
What is this election for?
Each epoch, 4/7 seats are elected by SNX stakers to serve on the Spartan Council. Together, all 7 members make up the sole Synthetix governance body, requiring 4/7 signatures to execute governance proposals or Treasury transactions.
3 Advisory seats provide strategic guidance, continuity, and external perspective to Synthetix governance.1 treasury seat serves as a required signer of all STPs and Treasury transactions
After a short delay in governance activity to avoid disrupting the critically important launch of Synthetix Perps on Ethereum, elections resume on their normal 6 month cadence with elections every January and July.
How to Nominate
Nominations are open immediately, and anyone can self-nominate. Simply drop your proposal as a message in the Synthetix Discord in the dedicated Nominations channel, or submit your nomination in the chat box in the Synthetix Help Center. To self-nominate, ensure your message includes:
Your name or pseudonym, which will be used to identify you in snapshot voting.The desired governance seat, which may be Advisory (3 Available) or Treasury (1 available). A short pitch describing your relevant experience, credentials, or vision.
Nominations close Sunday, January 25th, at 00:00 UTC. Please nominate before this date to participate.
How to Vote
Voting will be conducted on the Synthetix Elections Snapshot and is open to SNX stakers in the 420 pool. To participate in voting, ensure your SNX is staked on the 420 staking site before voting begins.
Elections will run for 5 days, beginning on Monday, January 26th and ending at EOD, Friday, January 30th. Please see the Snapshot page once elections begin for the precise end time.
The Upcoming Epoch
With the recent private launch of Synthetix Perps on Ethereum and the SLP market making vault, the coming epoch will shift focus to refining and growing the core Synthetix offering, and supporting critical integrators and partners like Infinex.
