The 2026 edition of The Armory Show will feature a larger contingent of young, emerging galleries and a thematic emphasis on art from the Caribbean and its diasporas, organisers say. Around 230 galleries from more than 30 countries will participate in this year’s fair.
This year’s floor plan has been organised around the venue’s entrances, introducing visitors to different aspects of the fair’s identity and curatorial themes as they enter. The south entrance will spotlight exhibitors presenting artists from the region and its diasporas, including El Apartamento, showing a group presentation of Cuban artists like Alex Hernandez Dueñas and Ariel Cabrera. The north entrance will emphasise galleries from New York and elsewhere in the US. Returning New York exhibitors include Miles McEnery Gallery, Hollis Taggart, Marc Straus Gallery and Dimin, which has been promoted from Presents to the main section. They are joined by galleries from across the US, including Anat Ebgi, James Cohan and Vielmetter Los Angeles. International participants include Templon, Mennour, Ben Brown Fine Arts and Nara Roesler.
The fair’s Presents and Solo sections—dedicated to emerging galleries and single-artist presentations, respectively—will each expand by around 20% this year. Solo will feature around 25 stands, with highlights including Albuquerque Contemporânea’s presentation of José Bechara and Baró Galeria’s stand devoted to Ayako Rokkaku. Presents will welcome around 55 exhibitors, many of them new to The Armory Show, including Amanita and Management from New York and Rajiv Menon from Los Angeles. Returning participants include 56 Henry from New York, Martha’s from Austin and Megan Mulrooney from Los Angeles. The section will also include Margot Samel, recipient of this year’s Gramercy International Prize, which awards a complimentary stand to a New York-based gallery exhibiting at the fair for the first time. The gallery will present a two-person stand featuring Leroy Johnson and Sasha Brodsky.
Several major galleries that participated in the 2025 edition are absent from this year’s exhibitor list, including White Cube, Skarstedt, Tanya Bonakdar Gallery and Andrew Kreps Gallery.
The fair’s curated sections also place the Caribbean at the forefront. Platform, the section for large-scale installations, will be curated by Jovanna Venegas of SculptureCenter and feature projects by Bony Ramirez with Regularnormal, Lucia Hierro with Marc Straus Gallery and Zenobia Lee with Sea View. Focus, organised by MarÃa Elena Ortiz of the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, will centre on artists working across the Caribbean and its diasporas. Participants include Casa Hoffmann from Bogotá, presenting work by Alba Triana, and Miami’s Mindy Solomon Gallery with a solo presentation of Yanira Collado.
“The Armory Show has always reflected New York’s openness: to artists, galleries and ideas from across the Americas and the wider world,” fair director Kyla McMillan said in a statement. “This year, that comes through in the breadth of the gallery list, the expansion of Presents and Solo, and the work of our curators, whose sections trace histories of movement, exchange and cultural connection through the Caribbean.”
The Armory Show will take place 24 through 27 September at the Javits Center, more than two weeks later than usual, avoiding a scheduling clash with Frieze Seoul, which is owned by the same company.
